It was a wonderful experience for both my husband and I. I thought that it was overall a nice place. I was upset that they did not offer in house physical therapy to their residents.
I would NOT recommend this place and hope that reviews of this nature will prompt some action to improve conditions for all the residents there. I'm a friend of a resident at this assisted living facility. This facility is in need of new management. I visited on several weekends and the meals on the weekend are always the same grilled cheese and a soup. The other issue is they always lose the residents clothes regardless if they're labeled with the residents name. That's very irresponsible and unprofessional, and yes I did experience seeing bugs and mice crawling on the residents beds.
Activities Provided
I toured Amber Court of Westbury for my mom. They have an area where they go and watch movies, and they do different activities. We saw a couple of people playing bingo. They also have a large outside seating area so they can go outside.
It's a very, very beautiful place. The staff who toured me was friendly and knowledgeable. Caring.com is a leading online destination for caregivers seeking information and support as they care for aging parents, spouses, and other loved ones. Amber Court looked old, the carpeting is old. There were lots of people walking around with walkers.

The woman giving the tour would not answer any questions until after the tour. She spent almost 2 hours talking to us, but still didn't answer all out questions. In the last week I have called twice and emailed twice. She finally responded today saying we should find a different place.

Fishermen and nature lovers know this area as the home of Long Island's largest lake and beautiful sunsets. Whether you love watching the sunset over a breathtaking landscaped scene, or you like reeling in... Ginger is amazing and her caregiver Marie is dynamite.
They are very caring, thoughtful, and available upon calling them with any questions. I would highly recommend Amber Court especially if you're aiming for quality care at more affordable prices. Their Medicaid-funded program is also a big benefit.
Although the receptionist at the front desk was very nice, no other employee greeted my aunt or any of our group during our visit. We spent quite a bit of time in the social areas… and we seemed to be an inconvenience. Employees were not motivated to help when simple requests were made. There is a strong smell of urine near the elevators. When we went to her room, there were clothes on the bed that had been laundered. When I went to help put them away, I was stunned to find that they were VERY damp.
However, I didn't see much of the facility. I saw one room where everybody got together. It looked like they were having fun and they had music and dancing, but that's all I saw, so I didn't see much else. They had a nice courtyard in the back.
